NEA15-22 part II – loose cannon

The plinker had a little facelift to enable better rifle-analogy in handling.

NEA15-22 in open and closed configurations

After the results of last magazine test, I ordered two Black Dog Machine 26rnd magazines and one 50rnd drum. Sometimes when filling up the drum, the rounds might get stuck on the corner of the feeding tower and the actual drum. (this might also be user related, one might even ask “what manual?”) Other than this, all mags seem to work flawlessly and time will tell if issues arise when they become dirty.

But here comes problems: Continue reading NEA15-22 part II – loose cannon

SLR Sentry7 adjustable gasblock

I’ve been looking for a while for an adjustable AR15 gas block that has adjustment with “clicks” to measure the setting and also keep the adjustment without any thread-lock.

So far I have found two manufacturers with such products, SLR Rifleworks and Syrac Ordnance.

Now I finally got my hands on one, the SLR Sentry 7 Clamp On model.

Loimaa Shotgun 9

As you might have guessed from the previous post,  SS took part in IPSC Shotgun Finnish championships 2014.

We all shot in the pre-match after a hard night’s work. The weather was good and the shooting was bad but fortunately not as bad as the jokes. The pre-match seemed never ending and it took from morning to evening so towards the end and due to exhaustion, the interest in the competition was pretty close to zero .

F*ck the walk-through, let’s just shoot the damn stage so we can get out of here!

The lack of interest resulted in stupid shooting and moving plans for the CoF, shooting no-shoot and misses. As a cherry on the top, the last CoF for SS was shot with a shotgun that wasn’t even the shooters own..   a defense, the shotgun intended to use and the shotgun actually used were both Benelli Vincis, only difference being the color of the fiber optic and the choke (finnish: SUUHINEN ) used.

Preparing for the pre-match @ Loimaa Shotgun 9 (Finnish Championship 2014)

Special Squad (SS) is once again operating as a work force in IPSC Shotgun Finnish Championships. This time the roster consists of a few RO:s plus few patch/plate-monkeys. SS arrived early to range to meet the MD for briefing about the necessary tasks before pre-match.

Most important task was to prepare the lines to hold the clay pigeons for stage1 (Shotgun FC2014 Stages).

Special squad (SS) participated in Nordic Rife Match 2014  as Range Officers and shot the match in pre-match. For us the event was 4½ days from wednesday afternoon to sunday. SS was responsible to handle stages 15 and 16 on main match.

We had two new cameras to provide better coverage of the failures events of the match, totaling in possible 5 different angles.

IPSC Shotgun Rules 5.3.2

There seems to be some different interpretations about shotgun rule 5.3.2

Unless otherwise specified in the written stage briefing the competitor’s equipment belt carrying cartridges
(in caddies, loops, clips, bags or pouches) and/or detachable magazines and/or speed loaders must be worn at
waist level. “Chest-rigs”, bandoliers and similar carriers are expressly prohibited. Additional ammunition
carriers mounted on forearms are permitted provided that cartridges are carried individually in loops or clips.

So it should be legal to hold load-2 or load-4 modules in your forearm as the cartridges are held individually in clips.

REWAL IRONHAND 3GUN 2.-4.5.2014

Special Squad attended a three day 3gun match in Estonia, organized by Rewal Shooting Club. Both shooters were in standard 3gun division and component matches.

Unfortunately one Estonian shooter was superior and won all three component matches (although shot one of them in Open division as the tournament in question allowed shooters to compete in non-3gun division in one match) and thus won the Standard division 3gun with 300 points. Second and third had 235.39 and 235.31 points.

Special Squad got one silver medal from shotgun component match. Unfortunately the longest stage in the shotgun competition was cancelled and this might have been the reason for not getting more medals!
